This book is intended to focus attention on the Irish mare and the importance of good dam line breeding in the production of the showjumper.

The failure to understand and accept that the dam has a hugely significant role in performance breeding lies at the heart of our current malaise in the production of showjumpers.

However, the time is long overdue for us to pay greater attention to our mares. To produce successful top class showjumpers,the dams must be jumpers too.

We have not understood this in the past and indeed there is not much indication that we are currently addressing this fundamental issue in peformance breeding.
